About The Author
James Shepherd
James Shepherd grew up in Woodside, Queens, New York, the oldest of four children. Movies and true stories fascinated him from early on. He enrolled at St. John’s University dreaming of becoming a filmmaker, majoring in communications while working at a local movie studio.
Music pulled him in a different direction. James moved upstate to a tiny town where he studied percussion and worked odd jobs to support himself. The writer in him never left though. He jotted down ideas in small paragraphs, visualizing each story from a cinematic point of view.
In the early 2000s, James created a cartoon called BatRat about a bat with a secret weapon and an inferiority complex. The concept landed him a meeting with Sony Pictures. Now James teaches percussion at music schools across Long Island. He lives there with his wife Lisa and runs his percussion brand, RimRiserUSA.
